Attention! Gov Zulum

Governor Babagana Zulum is arguably  the best governor in the country. Many people both within and outside the state have praised his commitment to providing democratic dividends to his people.

It is no understatemet to say that the people of Borno State had never had it so good since the state was created.

However, his good works are being tarnished by the decision to revoke the land ownership of many poor citizens of the state.

SPONSOR AD

Many poor families who had just one plot or less were affected by the recent revocation exercise which did not follow due process. Sadly, they were told that they acquired the lands illegally; mostly from traditional authorities.

One wonders why government is punishing them for something that they were ignorant of. At least they should be paid some compensation to enable them get other lands.

Moreover, many of them had their plots surveyed and authenticated before this administration set up the Borno Geographical Information Service (BGIS) which is now declaring them illegal.

Similarly, there are complaints by tricycle operators, traders and other service providers on the fees they are being charged daily for running their businesses.

Finally, I appeal to our amiable governor to ensure that these innocent people have  their lands returned to them or paid appropriate compensation.

Adamu Ali Usman, London Ciki, Maiduguri.
