The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has urged the people of Gombe State to vote for him, saying he will replicate the virtues of Nigeria’s former Prime Minister, the late Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, if elected.
Speaking during his campaign rally yesterday in Gombe, Atiku promised to rejuvenate Balewa’s good attributes, by bringing development to the people of the North East and the country as a whole.
He told the mammoth crowd of supporters at the Pantami Stadium, that voting for him in the 2023 election is the same thing as bringing back the virtues of the revered nationalist.
The presidential hopeful pledged that he will bring back the lost glory of a prosperous Nigeria that was devoid of terrorism, hunger, disunity and other negatives currently bedevilling the country.
Atiku told the people of the state that, as someone familiar with their problems, he will empower businessmen to thrive, as well as engage youths and women in gainful employment.
Atiku also stressed that peace, security and unity in Nigeria will be his top priorities if elected, “because those are the immediate needs of Nigerians at the moment.”
Earlier, the Director General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Team, Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State, assured that the party’s candidates would fulfil their campaign promises if elected.
