The 2023 presidential flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday, avoided comments on the lingering internal crisis of the party in Katsina State.
Atiku was in Katsina, according to him, to pay Sallah homage to former President Muhammadu Buhari and the Emir of Daura, and also to pay condolence visits to the emir.
“My essence of coming to Katsina was to pay sallah homage to the former President Buhari and the emir of Daura.”
“I also condoled with His royal Highness the emir of Katsina, over the death of his son and the family of late Lawal Kaita over the death of his wife,” he said.

The former vice president was also at the family house of late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua , where he paid homage to the mother of the late President, Hajiya Dada.
HIS visit to Buhari came days after he visited former heads of state, Ibrahim Babangida and Abdussalami Abubakar, a move that raised eyebrows in the political cycle.
However, when asked about the alarm raised by some of the party stakeholders in Katsina on the disappearance and possible hijack of the congress forms, Atiku simply replied by saying, “There will soon be congresses and people will elect who they want.”
Recall that PDP has been in crisis before, during and after the 2023 general elections , a situation that eventually led to the decamping to the ruling APC of the former state governor, Ibrahim Shehu Shema, who was at loggerheads with the governorship candidate of the party Yakubu Lado, and other major stakeholders.
However, after Shema left, the Lado side of the faction also broke up with the governorship candidate on one side and the former SSG and DG campaign Atiku/Lado 2023, Mustapha Inuwa, Senator Tsauri, a former national secretary of the party and an ally of Shema, Yusuf Majigiri, a serving member of the house of reps on the other side.
