The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has promised to create millions of job for the teeming unemployed youth in Benue State if voted into power in the forthcoming February 16, election.
Abubakar spoke on Friday in Makurdi during his PDP presidential rally at the Aper Aku Stadium.
“I promise that we will put together processing industries so that our tomatoes and citrus don’t get rotten. That will create millions of job for our teeming youths,” he said.
The presidential candidate who was overwhelmed by the crowd of supporters who filled the 20,000 capacity stadium to the brim, thanked the Benue people for their show of love as he further urged them to vote all PDP candidates in the state during the elections.
Earlier while meeting with the Benue Traditional Council, led by their chairman, Tor Tiv, Prof. James Ayatse, at the banquet hall of Government House, in Makurdi, Atiku assured that he will restructure the country to operate a federal system of government.
He said that a true federal system of government will bring good governance closer to the people and deliver desired dividends to them, stressing, “It is my belief and conviction that if I run a true federal system of government, more powers and resources will go to states and local government since they are closer to the people.
“If this is done, it will address the developmental issues and the insecurity we face in many parts of the country no matter what name they resurface.
