The President General of Ohanaeze youth wing, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzo on Sunday, asked the Southeast governors led by Engr. David Umahi of Ebonyi state not to brandish their political interest against the gains of the region.
He further asked the forum to stop its fight against the choice of the immediate governor of Anambra state as running mate to PDP presidential candidate Alh. Atiku Abubakar in 2019.
Mazi Isiguzo disclosed this to Journalists in Abakaliki when reacting to governor Umahi’s alleged ill expression on the choice of Mr. Peter Obi as the running mate to PDP presidential candidate.
Daily Trust gathered that Governor Umahi was allegedly claiming that Alhaji Atiku did not seek the opinions of the stakeholders of the region before making his choice.
“Appointing an Igbo man in the person of Peter Obi the immediate governor of Anambra state as his running mate for 2019 presidential election should not be a thing that should tear us apart, rather should unite us for 2019 elections and owing to the fact it would protect our political interest in future.
“So l would advise them to shield their sword and not to brandish their political interest as against the zone. They should as a matter of fact allow the choice of PDP and that of Alhaji Atiku to be,” he said.
Isiguso noted that the Igbo tribe has been marginalised under the present administration, adding that the choice for Mr. Obi was a true unification of Nigeria.
“Therefore, the governor of the Southeast led by our father, Engr David Umahi, governor of Ebonyi state should allow the decision of PDP and that of Atiku Abubakar to stand,” he appealed.
