Former Vice President has joined other Nigerians in mourning the loss of a former Foreign Affairs and Transport Minister, Chief Ojo Maduekwe as well as a famous Nigerian author, Elechi Amadi.

Atiku, in a separate press statement released by his media office, described the death of Chief Maduekwe as a rude shock.

The Turaki Adamawa noted that the former diplomat was a hardworking and tireless person who always brought deep intellect and sound analysis to the dissection of problems and their solution.

Atiku said his strong and reliable intellect was one of those attributes that endeared him to many members of the former ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In his condolence message on the death of Amadi, the chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) described his demise as a great loss to Nigeria and to the world of literature.

Atiku commiserated with the family of Elechi Amadi, the government and of people of Rivers State, and to all Nigerians, who grew up reading Amadi’s books as part of their recommended texts in various schools.

“Just like Chinua Achebe, Wole Soyinka and several eminent writers of their generation, Elechi Amadi made Nigeria proud, causing our literary star to shine all over the world,” said Atiku.

He also condoled all lovers of Nigerian literature around the world, reminding them that, even though Elechi Amadi may have left this world, his works will live on forever.
