Atiku, Kwankwaso not on collision course – Don

A university lecturer and Atiku’s associate, Ahmad Shehu, has dismissed the alleged political rivalry between a former governor of Kano Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwnakwaso State and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubkar, saying the duo are not on a collision course.
On the day of the PDP’s presidential primary election, Kwankwaso was accused of working for Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State. Moreso, it was alleged that he collected $15,000 from the Rivers State Governor and presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nyesom Wike, for each delegate from Kano State, an allegation the former senator debunked.
But in a Facebook post, Ahmad Shehu said that the rumoured clash is the work of some people whom he described as  ‘agents of bad blood’.
“There is this an unnecessary debate by talkatives who are trying to ignite fire between Kwankwaso and his former boss Alh. Atiku Abubakar. What I know for sure is that H.E. Atiku Abubakar has enormous, unwavering respect for H.E. Rabiu Kwankwaso, for I had the opportunity to discuss the latter with the former.
“Of course, agents of bad blood had done a lot to get the duo in a collision course after the 2019 elections, but both leaders ignored and concentrated on what is desired of Nigeria – competent leadership. And now, in the minds of street supporters, Atiku and Kwankwaso are naturally in competition for who becomes president, given that they both share the same demographic, ethnic and religious base.
“But, in the brains of those close to the circle is the informed idea that the duo are in complementary situation to save the north from an impending danger should it lose political power in 2023. This reality does not come to the imagination of ordinary citizens, but I do expect educated people to be informed and be guided by their understanding of principles of political alliance.”
