The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, on Monday flagged off his 2019 presidential campaign in North-West with a pledge to help Nigerians “make it.”
“I was not rich but I struggled to be where I am today. I was a teacher; there’s no business venture I have not undertaken. I will help you make it,” he said.
He urged Nigerians to vote for him and protect their votes.
Also speaking at the campaign ground, former president, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan said Nigerians are not happy because ‘there is no food to eat’ under the present administration, saying PDP remains the number one party in Nigeria.
“We have seen the performance of PDP from Obasanjo, Yar’Adua and my administration – everyone could eat but today it is different.
“For those of us that are adult, history will not forgive us if we fail to change this government,” Jonathan said.
He added that Atiku Abubakar has the capacity to deal with the current challenges of hunger, unemployment and insecurity bedevilling the nation.
Also commenting, the Senate President and Director General of PDP/Atiku Campaign, Senator Bukola Saraki, said: “The man that can bring security is Atiku Abubakar.”
While cheering the crowd, the PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, said the party was on rescue mission to salvage Nigerians from the problems bedevilling the nation.
Others who spoke at the event include the Governor of Sokoto state, Aminu Tambuwal; PDP BOT chairman, Walid Jibrin; former Vice President Namadi Sambo; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara; former governor of Kaduna state, Ahmed Makarfi; former governor of Kano state, Rabiu Kwankwaso; former Jigawa state governor, Sule Lamido; former minister of Special Duties, Taminu Kabiru Turaki; former governor of Niger State, Babangida Mu’azu and former Sokoto Governor, Attahiru Bafarawa, among others.
