A Coalition of Atiku Support Groups (CASG) has said the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has never used and dumped any support group as being rumoured by “smear campaigners.”
Addressing newsmen yesterday in Abuja, leader of the Coalition, Rev. Emmanuel Olorunmagba said it was foolhardy for any genuine support group to allege being used and dumped by Atiku, when the main campaign has not started.
“INEC has not even lifted ban on campaigns. A rational thinking person can only allege to have been used and dumped if he or she was assigned a specific task during the campaign and the assigned task was well carried out and still the entire campaign ended, he or she is not compensated in any way for the job well-done.
“Before the PDP presidential primary, Atiku always inform leaders of support groups that he would not be able to sponsor support groups before the primary because the full attention then was on how to get delegates elect him as PDP presidential flag-bearer. However, he always add that there are plans for support groups,” he said.
The coalition accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of being behind the “campaign of calumny” in order to blackmail Atiku.
