The Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), a former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has won the Presidential election in Abia State with wide margin.
Atiku polled 219,698 votes to defeat President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who had 85,068 votes in Abia State.
The State Collation Officer for Presidential Election (SCOPE), also known as the Returning Officer in Abia, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba, made the announcement while submitting the collated results of the state.
He added that the total valid votes are 323,291, rejected votes 21,180; total votes cast 344,471; total registered voters 1,793,861and total accredited voters as 361,561.
Nwajiuba, who is also the Vice Chancellor of the Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ebonyi State, gave the performance of all the parties in the 17 local governments of the state as follows:
