Atiku congratulates Ghana”s President-elect, Nana Akufo-Addo

A former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has congratulated Ghana’s President-elect Nana Akufo-Addo on his victory at the polls.

In a message on his twitter handle ( @atiku ), the former Vice President wrote: "I congratulate the president-elect of Ghana – Nana Akufo-Addo and every Ghanaian for the just concluded presidential election."

Akufo-Addo defeated President Mahama by 53.8 percent to 44.4 percent in the election which took place on Wednesday.

Atiku went further to appreciate the incumbent President for conceding defeat, stressing that; "for graciously conceding to the opposition, I specially congratulate and commend President John Mahama.

"I am thrilled that the era of democracy, where leaders are abiding by the supremacy of voters’ powers is steadily taking firm root in Africa."
