ATCON’s President Mr. Lanre Ajayi said the code, which will be ready before the end of this year, is designed to guide members adding that its being painstakingly considered to avoid mistakes.
“It is a legally binding document; it is not something we want to do in a hurry so that we do not make mistakes,” he said.
Ajayi noted that, “the national executive council of the association has recognised the need for a voluntary industry self-regulatory process. This shall guide the activities of member-companies in their dealings with customers and one another.”
The ATCON president also stated that the code of ethics was to ensure that member-companies conducted their businesses with a high degree of professionalism.
He explained that the code would protect consumers from quackery as ATCON members would be bound by professional ethics and would ensure investigation of complaints of unethical practices against member-companies.
Ajayi disclosed that defaulting companies would be appropriately sanctioned as the code of ethics would ensure that any identified infraction by a member-company was remedied to the satisfaction of the customer or complainant.
