The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) yesterday expressed displeasure over 16 million unemployed Nigerian graduates and 12 million out-of-school children. The union called on President Muhammadu Buhari to safeguard the future of the young Nigerians.
The Chairman of ASUU, University of Ibadan, Dr Deji Omole who spoke in Ibadan, wondered why the plan to declare emergency in the education sector had not been perfected by the Federal Government.
Omole said it was sad for Buhari who failed to improve access to education for teeming millions to state that the same youths were sitting down and waiting for freebies.
Omole asked, “What plan does the government have for graduates who go through the mandatory National Youth Service Corps every year but frustrated by lack of jobs and the right environment to even start business?
