They expressed solidarity with ASUU and asked the Federal government to start giving 26 percent of the budget to education as recommended by UNESCO as against the present 2 percent in order to arrest brain drain and stop incessant industrial action in tertiary institutions.
COEASU also called for a well defined academic freedom, full payment of monetisation arrears accruing to Colleges of Education and the immediate release of government’s view on the 2007 negotiations with the union.
