ASUU seeks release of abducted female lecturer

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Agriculture, Makurdi chapter, yesterday called on the Kogi State Police Command and other security agencies to secure the release of their female colleague, Christie O. Agbulu, who was abducted in Lokoja since November 26.

Addressing a press conference in Lokoja, UAM ASUU’s acting chairperson, Dr. Bemgba Anjembe, expressed concern that Agbulu, a lecturer I in the Department of Biological Sciences, was yet to be freed after about 17 days in captivity despite reassurances from the police about her rescue.

The chairperson who was represented at the news briefing by the union’s secretary, Dr. Ishaq Eneji, said the abductors had earlier demanded for N150, 000 ransom of which N100, 000 was paid to them.  He expressed concern that the abductors closed lines of communication since they collected the ransom, causing more anxiety about the whereabouts of the lecturer.
