ASUU donates N5 million Food Package to IDPs


On June 16, the Bayero University Kano (BUK) chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), donated food items worth five million naira to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the North East. The Chairman of ASUU, BUK chapter, Dr Ibrahim Barde, who inaugurated the food distribution campaign in Kano, said the purpose of the gesture was to alleviate the condition of IDPs in various camps in the region. He disclosed that the relief package was put together by lecturers that had been tasked by ASUU to carry out a compassionate mission to relieve the hardship of IDPs in the country. The food distribution will be conducted on a monthly basis. Dr Barde urged other institutions in the country to emulate the scheme. The food items donated included, rice, millet, sugar spaghetti, Maggi seasoning, vegetable oil and palm oil.
