Dr Eugene Pam, national president of the association made the observation during the inauguration of four specialised sub-committees of the association.
“The poor performance of most countries including Nigeria on the water related MDG has also to do with low capacity of national and local agencies many of which suffer from weak leadership and planning capabilities, staffing and skill gaps, and poorly allocated budgets,” he said.
He said that the association recognised the challenges and intends to reposition itself to serve as a critical platform for the sectoral re-engineering.
He said it would also collaborate with government at all levels, the private sector and donor organisations in articulating and addressing the challenges facing the nation’s water sector.
