The squad which was introduced in 2008, brought down the level of criminal activities in the state but was withdrawn amidst controversies that trailed activities of its members as many were accused of brutalizing citizens besides interfering in matters not related to their mandate.
The sponsor of the motion, Hon. Mustapha Baale, representing Jere State Constituency, said the measure became necessary following recent alarming increase in criminal activities in the state; a situation he said has caused the loss of many innocent lives and the destruction of property worth millions of naira.
The legislators however, noted that members of the security unit need to abide by their operational schedule unlike what obtained before it was dissolved when they interfered in civil cases, creating fear and insecurity in the minds of the people.
Kanem Trust reports that the operation flush was first launched years ago under previous government which was why the re-launch in 2008 was nicknamed Operation Flush II, by Governor Ali Modu Sheriff’s administration.
