Assembly raises alarm over NSCDC’s recruitment

The Bauchi State House of Assembly has raised alarm over what it described as lopsided recruitment and replacements in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Brought under matters of urgent public importance during the plenary in Bauchi Friday, member representing Bauchi Central Constituency, Hon. Jamilu Umaru Dahiru, alleged the infiltration of the lists for NSCDC, Federal Fire Service and Nigerian Immigration Service by ‘strange names’ of people who are not from the state.

According to the member, out of the 579 people recruited from the Northeast, Bauchi State got only seven, most of whose names sound strange and unfamiliar, which he said “clearly shows that they are not indigenes of the state.”

Dahiru, who said the issue is very disturbing, therefore called on the assembly to ask the government to follow up the matter and make sure Bauchi got its due share.
