Assembly plenary relocated to Govt House

The Plateau State House of Assembly has relocated its sittings to the Government House in Rayfield amidst pending judgement of the Court of Appeal on the fate of the state lawmakers.

The lawmakers on Friday moved their sittings from the main complex to the Old Government House, in Rayfield, Jos South Local Government Area of the state.

The development is coming days after the appellate court sacked all PDP lawmakers in the National Assembly from the state.

The call for the relocation of the House activities, which was announced by the Speaker of the House, came soon after the House approved N27billion supplementary budget and N1.5bn loans for the state government during Friday’s plenary.

While announcing the relocation, the Speaker of the House, Moses Sule, said the decision became necessary over an ongoing renovation work, which is expected to be completed on schedule.

The Speaker added that the strike by the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PSAN) was also a factor to the relocation of the sittings, which according to him, the state chapter of the association had joined.

Daily Trust on Sunday reports that all APC lawmakers, who are in minority, were not in attendance.
