The petitioners had alleged that the district head failed to confer them with chieftaincy titles as agreed after collecting N380,000 from each of them, the sum of which amounted to N2,280,000; and requested the assembly to compel him to refund the money.
The house refused their prayers for a refund, saying its investigations proved that the district head did not put the said monies into personal use; and urged them to await future considerations in the conferment of traditional titles in the district.
Meanwhile, in another petition against the Gwoza Emirate Council for allegedly using illegal means to transfer the title of Tafidan Gwoza, the lawmakers said the petition was uncalled for because traditional titles were not confined to a particular community or clan, saying such appointments were the prerogative of the council, as long as traditional processes have been duly observed; and the selection was subsequently approved by the Executive Governor.
