Group of aspirants that alleged disenfranchisement from ward and local government congresses in Yobe has insisted for fresh congresses, saying no congress has been held across the state.

The spokesman of the group, Adamu Yaro revealed to newsmen during press conference on Sunday in Damaturu.

Yaro said that the "purported affirmation done by the so called party stakeholders was a clear violation and assault of both the party constitution and the congress guidelines with impunity in the hands of the agents of the state government".

He said that conducting fresh congresses was the only solution and way out to save the party from being destroyed in the state.

"We urge the appeal committee and party faithful not to endorse any candidate that emerged from any election that is organised and conducted in contravention of the party’s constitution and congress guidelines" he said.

He also appealed to the committee to carefully investigate their complaint and sanctioned whoever found culpable according to the party’s constitution and guidelines.

"If for any reason our grievances are not address properly and promptly, we will be left with no other option but to fight the alleged plan to privatize the party in the court of law,” he added.

In their response, a stalwart in the party, who is also the state commissioner of Education, Alhaji Mohammed Lamin said it’s normal to receive complains in every election but what happened in the congresses were purely in house problems that can be sorted out without going to press or writing petitions.

He said the alleged claims of marginalisation and imposition of executives at the ward congresses have been received by the leadership of the party.

"Such allegations were made in other states, it’s  an in-house problem, we don’t have to be aggressive or volatile because in every election there are bound to be winners, losers and complainants but, we will sort it out very soon.

"We expect the party faithful to endure the outcome because  it can’t be me and me all the time. We are also happy that observations raised in the ward congress were taken care of and avoided in the local government congress", he added.
