The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna state, Isa Ashiru, has threatened to take legal action against Dr. Muhammad Sani Bello for allegedly faulting his educational credentials.
Dr. Bello had while resigning his membership of the PDP last week said he was leaving the party partly because he was not comfortable working with the PDP governorship candidate whose credentials needed explanations.
The governorship candidate through his lawyers had written to Dr. Bello demanding public apology and retraction saying his reputation had been damaged by the comment.
Ashiru insisted the former PDP governorship aspirant should within seven days retract the statement and publicly apologize to him in addition to paying N500m as compensation or risk meeting him in court.
“In the event of your refusal to comply with, or make good our demands as aforestated, we have our client’s instructions to explore all legal means available under our extant laws to ensure that these demands are met.
“Specifically, but without prejudice to other recourse, we shall file an action in a court of law against you for defamation of our client’s character and claim special aggravated damages,” the letter read.
