Nigeria’s former vice president Atiku Abubakar has described the Nigerian-born UFC middleweight champion, Isreal Adesanya’s victory as Nigeria’s 60th anniversary gift.
Atiku revealed this on his Twitter handle while celebrating with the UFC champion.

Adesanya retained his title with a second round knockout of Paulo Costa in Abu Dhabi.

Nigeria’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa and other Nigerians have also congratulated Isreal Adesanya, after retaining his title with a second round knockout of Paulo Costa in Abu Dhabi.
Dare described Adesanya’s victory as a feat that has brought Nigeria to the podium.

Adesanya dominated the fight and a kick to the head gave the Stlyebender the needed advantage to unleash the rain of punches on the Brazilian.
The latest win has taken his undefeated record to 20 in the UFC Middleweight division.
