Residents of Asaba, Delta State, will have the opportunity to ring in Democracy Day (June 12) this year with Comedy In Action.

Hosted by one of Nigeria’s consistent comedians, Aigbiremolen Kingsley, also known as Comedy In Action, the show set to take place at the Sweet Spirit Hotel, Asaba promises to replicate the massive success its been associated with since its comeback in 2022.

It will also feature performances from top Nigerian musicians.

Speaking of his comedic career, the artiste and graduate of Electrical Electronics Engineering, Ambrose Ali University Abuja, who ventured into comedy as an undergraduate, said he had always found pleasure in entertaining people.

“I have always had a passion for entertaining people, but I started organizing my own shows in 2010 when I was in 200 level. I always knew I had something to show the world, and just needed a platform to do it.”

The comedian who has displayed admirable consistency in the industry since he actively began hosting shows in 2010, said his platform which experienced some setback witnessed a resurgence in 2022 with Action Is Back: Comedy In Action Live In Benin, followed by Comedy In Action Abuja in 2023, and Comedy In Action Asaba 2024.

On the challenges of the industry, he said, “Like every other productive sector, entertainment is a big industry that needs government support. Finance and infrastructure are always the major issues. if the average comedian can get access to grants and government support, then the sky will be the starting point.”
