Group wants end to attack on travellers

Zango Urban Development Association (ZUDA) has called for an end to ambush on travellers plying various roads across the Atyap chiefdom in Zangon Kata Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

It also urged security agents to arrest and prosecute those behind such attacks.

The National Chairman of the group, Alhaji Shehu Aminu Abdullahi, in a statement in Kaduna, cautioned drivers and other travellers plying the roads to be mindful of irate youths adding that cases of attacks on motorists have become rampant.

“Many of such victims have been taken to the various private clinics within Zango Urban town and the General Hospital in Zango for treatment. This same situation has been reported to the various security agencies for prompt action,” he said.

While condemning the attacks and other attacks in the area, the group urged the state government to ensure justice is served against perpetrators while also calling on the government emergency agencies and non-governmental organisations to come to the aid of victims by providing relief materials.

The association also called on the government to urgently publish, implement and enforce the already approved and released white papers on the Justice Rahila Cudjoe Commission of Inquiry and the AVM Usman Mu’azu Peace and Reconciliation Committee reports saying the non-implementation of such reports is the basis for which crises and provocations thrive.

While commending the efforts of the Agwatyap, the traditional ruler of the area, in ensuring peace, the group urged other southern Kaduna leaders to preach peace to their members.
