Arts, entertainment can curb terrorism – Tinubu

National leader of the All progressives  Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has  charged African leaders to invest in arts and entertainment, saying that can discourage youths from terrorism.
Tinubu made the call while addressing journalists at the 2015 All Africans Music Awards held in Lagos. The APC chieftain, who received Africa Award for Social Change at the event, said with the spate of terrorism in different parts of the world, African leaders must start investing resources in the creative industry, which is capable of employing many youths, thereby discouraging them from going into crimes.
“Yes, I agree that investment in creative industry is capable of employing African youths who invariably will avoid criminal tendencies. The talents are there, the potentials are also enormous and I strongly believe we can use music, arts, cultures as well as internet to curb the rising cases of terrorism in Africa,” Tinubu said.  Earlier, he asked the gathering to observe a minute silence in honour of victims of terrorist attacks in France.  He maintained that terrorism could not  subdue people if they were united and called on global leaders to find a common front in subduing the scourge.
