Arsenal held positive talks with the agent of Ever Banega last night as they aim to sign the Sevilla star.
Unai Emery wants to reunite with his former midfielder, having managed him in Spain.
And a move for the Argentina international is being pushed through by the Gunners’ new boss.
Banega is currently away in Russia at the World Cup but his future is being sorted by representative Marcelo Simonian.
The agent travelled to London yesterday and held initial discussions with Arsenal.
According to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, the meeting was positive as talks surrounded a potential deal for Banega.
The former Valencia man would offer a wealth of experience to Arsenal in the middle.
And it is an area that needs strengthening at the Emirates following the announcement Jack Wilshere will leave on a free soon while Santi Cazorla has gone too.
A deal has been agreed for Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira, who is expected to join Arsenal.
And Banega could yet follow him to north London, but a transfer is not guaranteed yet.
