Arsenal’s purported move to sell Aaron Ramsey and use the funds to sign Barcelona’s Andre Gomes has not gone down well with the fans.
The Portugal international – who was in the squad which won the European Championships two years ago – hasn’t quite been able to produce his best form in his two seasons at the Camp Nou.
In 78 appearances across all competitions for Barca thus far the 24-year-old has mustered three goals and four assists.
Last season he was often played on the flanks with Ernesto Valverde shifting away from the club’s preferred 4-3-3 system – which would have suited Gomes a lot more – to a 4-4-2 formation.
As a result Gomes struggled for consistency. He completed 90 minutes once in La Liga and failed to make the matchday squad for the Copa Del Rey final win over Sevilla.
Therefore all signs are pointing towards the midfielder leaving the reigning champions of Spain during the summer transfer window.
According to the Independent, Unai Emery wants to bring the midfielder to the Emirates Stadium this summer and is willing to sell a few squad players to meet Barca’s reported £30m asking price.
