Arsenal are on the brink of completing the signing of Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira.
Sky Italia says the Gunners and Sampdora have agreed terms over a fee for the Uruguay international – who is now the final obstacle to a deal.
Torreira’s contract carries a €25m buyout clause – which Arsenal are happy to match. Indeed, the Gunners have put an alternative €30m option on the table if they can defer paying the fee for two years.
Meanwhile, Arsenal and Torreira are still haggling over personal terms. The 25 year-old, for the moment, is asking too much as far as Arsenal’s board is concerned.
Like the Gunners, Torreira is also eager to settle the transfer before the World Cup kicks off.
