The Jama’atu Izalatul Bid’a Wa Iqamatus Sunna (JIBWIS) in Katsina said it is working round the clock to secure the bail of one of its member and preacher, Aminu “Abu Ammar” Usman who was invited and detained by state security personnel.
The state chairman of JIBWIS, Sheik Yakubu Musa Hassan in a chat with Daily Trust said ” We have received information that plain cloth security operatives have arrested one of our preacher in the state Abu Ammar”
” In the beginning his whereabouts wee unknown but later we learnt he is with the plain cloth security officers (DSS), we have sent our representatives to go and find out reasons for his arrest” .
” It may be other reasons or things to do with preaching because he is among our preachers and as Tafsir members we have to step in” he said.
Unfortunately, he said, those that we sent couldn’t meet the proper officers in charge who can give them full briefs on the situation but we were equally told that today he will be granted bail today
He said ” And we are following up on the matter especially with those key stakeholders whom we feel can have a say on security matters. We will continue on this regard to ensure we get his bail” .
“And it is from there that we shall know what other steps to take” he added .
Asked whether the arrest has to do with his last week preaching believe to have offended the authorities, Hassan said ” they did not tell us so, not until we talk with them to know his offence, his friend whom they were together when they invited him and they went there also was not told of his offence, so all the stories going round especially in the social media cannot hold waters. We want to be sure of his offence before taking the next line of action ”
It could be recalled that Abu Ammar” was yesterday invited and detained allegedly by men of State security service in Katsina.
sources say his arrest might not be unconnected to a pre “hudba” sermon made were he berated the administration over nonchalant attitude and worsening insecurity across the country.
Our reporter gathered that Abu Ammar was with his friend Malam Shamsu when he received a call inviting him by security men who asked him to come down to the Department of state security office in the state.
“He obliged and they went together, after a while, they (DSS) asked Shamsu to leave just at about breaking of fast ” the source said.
His son, Murtala has since confirmed the arrest when our reporter visited his house located around Filin Samji area of the metropolis.
When contacted the spokesman of Katsina police command SP Gambo Isah said he is hearing the development for the first time when reached out for comment on the matter.
In March 2015, it could be recalled that Abu Ammar was similarly whisked away by the DSS.
