Army to partner UNIMAID for capacity building

The Nigerian Army has expressed its desire to collaborate with the University of Maiduguri in research development and other endeavours.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, made the announcement on Friday when he paid a courtesy visit on the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Ibrahim Njodi, in his office in Maiduguri.

Buratai said that a team from the army would soon visit the university to explore the areas of collaboration between the two bodies.

He expressed his optimism that the collaboration would be of immense benefit to the army, the university and the nation at large.

Condoling Njodi for the passing of his mother recently, Buratai said the army would find the university useful in collaborating to repair some facilities used by the army.

Njido thanked the army chief for the visit, saying that the university was already partnering the Nigerian Air Force on scientific research.

He said that the university had similarly, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Nigerian Defence Academy on research.

The vice-chancellor lauded Buratai for leading the army to degrade the Islamic Boko Haram terror group, pleading with the army chief to sustain the fight.
