Army to conduct one month ‘Operation Crocodile Smile’ in Calabar creeks

Gov Ben Ayade of Cross River State has confirmed that the Nigerian Army will commence Operation Crocodile Smile (OCS) for one month throughout the creeks of Calabar South LGA.

Ayade spoke through his senior special adviser on media, Christian Ita in an interview with Daily Trust.

He said the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai will arrive the state shortly to concertize the preparation.

Ayade said the decision of the army to conduct the operation in Calabar was owing to increasing criminal activities in the creeks which effects were felt in many parts of the city.

“The Chief of Army Staff has confirmed that Operation Crocodile Smile will be conducted in the Calabar creeks. The operation will last for at least one month.”

” Dangerous activities have been going on in the Calabar creeks which is the reason the army has decided to come in”, he said.
