Army rescues prince, 3 others from kidnappers in Taraba

Troops from the 114 Battalion (Rear) of the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army (NA) in conjunction with other security forces have rescued four kidnapped victims, including the son of the Chief of Kwaji, from a kidnappers’ den on a mountain in Taraba State.

The troops also destroyed the den and other hideouts used by the bandits that recently raided several villages and abducted many people, including women and children, in parts of Yorro, Zing and Jalingo LGAs.

Lieutenant Oni Olubodunde, the acting spokesman of 6 Brigade, in a statement, said, “The swift and decisive operation to flush out bandits and kidnappers disturbing the peace in Yorro LGA and its environs commenced on 2nd February, 2024. Troops came in contact with bandits on Gampu Hills and in the Ban Yorro area.”

He gave the names of the rescued victims as  Genesis M Samuel (24) from Ganku village; Benard Denis (28) from Fulfualgon village; Esther Titus (35) from Kosanai village and the chief’s son, Isma’il Umar (25).
