Army recalls 145 soldiers replaced after Boko Haram attacks

Authorities of the 7 Division, Nigerian Army, Maiduguri, have reportedly agreed to recall soldiers of the 153 Infantry Battalion, Marte.

The authorities had earlier retrieved their uniforms and identity cards after insurgents carried out series of coordinated attacks on the battalion which operated from the same base with the 22 Armored Brigade.

The insurgents had allegedly gained the upper hand in two ‘deadly’ assaults on the formations between January and February this year.

“The affected soldiers have been recalled and were given back their uniforms and identity cards.

“They will report into 212, 195 and 159 battalions depending on where their lists appeared.

“Though they were replaced at Marte with soldiers from Jaji Military Cantonment, Kaduna State, they may likely remain in Borno in spite of being there since 2017,” the source said.
