The 34 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Obinze, Imo State has paraded 12 suspects involved in several crimes in the state, including drivers of Dangote Sino Truck allegedly involved in illegal bunkering.
The commander of the brigade, Brigadier General Kay Isiyaku through the Army PRO, Capt. Ajemasu Jingina said that three suspects were involved in kidnapping, eight in illegal oil bunkering while one suspect was arrested for having firearms.
He said that the command through its Operation PULO SHIELD arrested three suspects with a truck carrying 10,800 litres of substances suspected to be Ago loaded inside constructed metal and concealed with piles of 2 by 4 inches wood along Port Harcourt/Owerri expressway.
He said that the suspects identified as Charles Anayo Nwachukwu, Chika Uche and Chucks Samuel Agwu were apprehended alongside their black/yellow coloured man-diesel truck with Rg. No. ABB 239XA
The commander disclosed that another two suspects namely Mr. Earnest Oforegbu and Mr, Collins Okoh were arrested on the same Port Harcourt/ Owerri road carrying 600 litres of substance suspected to be AGO in an 18-seater Volkswagen bus with RG. No ABN381XA
Also apprehended, according to the commander, were four drivers of Dangote Sino Truck with identification number ICT 15D 03 for involving in illegal bunkering. The suspects identified were Mr. Anas Mohammed (driver), Mr. Abdulmajid Aliyu conductor, Mr. Christian Nnochiri loader and Mr. Ejima Emeka suspected to be the owner of the AGO substance.
He said that another Dangote Sino Truck with RG. No KMC 136 ZY also carrying 22,000 litres of substances suspected to be crude oil was impounded at Eziorsu Oguta of Imo state in conjunction with men of the NSCDC.
The commander said that the suspected drivers had abandoned the truck locked and fled which attracted the hiring of excavator to pull it out from the sand and taken to the barracks.
He told newsmen that a suspect Mr. Arinze Osimiri, aged 32 involved in illegal possession and use of firearm on own troops was also apprehended at Oguta LGA of Imo state while two other suspected kidnap syndicates were smashed at Etekwuru in Egbema of Ohaji/Egbema LGA.
Isiyaku said that the suspects: Ugo Ijo aged 32, from Omoku in Rivers State and Mr. Emeka Nwanu, 20 years who hails from Egbema were arrested in an attempt to kidnap one Engr Yusuf. Oladayo Kayode and Architect Owoeye Ayodeji based in both Abuja and Lagos respectfully.
