Soldiers from the 1 Battalion Nigerian Army, Dukku Barracks, Birnin Kebbi and the vigilante group have neutralised some bandits operating at the Sabon Birnin forest, Shanga area of the state and rescued four kidnapped victims from their hideout.
Those rescued from the bandits include a 60-year-old man, Alhaji Hakimi Rumbu, Amina Dikko, Alhaji Abdullahi and Bello Abdullahi, a 22-year-old from Tungan Namuna in Koko area of the state.
While briefing journalists at the Cabinet Office in Birnin Kebbi, the Director of Security, AbdulRahman Usman said the troops also recovered 3 AK-47 rifles mounted with magazines, 3 extra magazines, 142 rounds of live ammunition and pairs of military uniforms from the bandits’ hideout at Sabon Birnin.
He said “Troops of 1 Battalion Dukku Barracks Birnin Kebbi on clearance operation with local vigilantes at Sabon Birni Village, Shanga area of the state neutralised some bandits, rescued four kidnapped victims and destroyed their camp”.

While commending the troops, he said Governor Nasir Idris has given security operatives in the state moral and material support to carry out their duty of protecting the lives and properties of the people of the state.
