Army kills notorious terrorists in Borno, arrests kingpin

Nigeria army troops have gunned down a notorious terrorists said to be wreaking havoc around Gwoza local government area of Borno state.
A statement on Tuesday by army spokesman Colonel Sani Usman said troops on an offensive operation to clear Boko Haram terrorists’ enclave around Kwatarha and Torikwaptir general area of Gwoza killed the terrorists.
He explained that: “the notorious Boko Haram terrorist that had been wreaking havoc among the communities was gunned by our troops on Monday afternoon.”
Usman added that during the operation, four other terrorists were believed to have escape with gunshot wounds and an AK-47 rifle was recovered from him.
He also said troops of 3 Division have arrested a suspected Boko Haram terrorist kingpin, Alhaji Tijjani Usman Damagum.
Usman said Damagum was tracked down and arrested at Damagum town, Yobe State on Tuesday.
“A high profile Boko Haram terrorists’ group member, he has led Boko Haram members on various attacks especially in Yobe State,” he added.
The army statement said the suspect is currently undergoing interrogation and will soon been arraigned.
