Nigeria Army Institute of Technology and Environmental Studies (NAITES) in Makurdi, Benue state has matriculated 1300 new students for the 2015/2016 academic session.
Rector of the Institute located at the Nigeria Army School of Military Engineering (NASME) barracks, Makurdi, Brig. Gen. Clement Ojo said at the 11th matriculation ceremony that the school was characterised with certain unique qualities to train the middle level manpower of the Army and the general public on various fields.
“The implication of this hypothetical situation is that, the polytechnic seeks to achieve not only academic excellence but also the moral uprightness of students. Such holistic approach in our training is very imperative and pertinent to employment in the labour market,” he said.
He warned the new students against indecent dressing and cultism, noting that the institution would not tolerate any of such seeming act as it is required of them to strictly face their studies in order to become responsible in every facet of their lives.
Also, the Chief of Army Staff who spoke through his representative, Brig-Gen Okorie Obonu expressed satisfaction that the vision of setting up the institution was gradually being realised as he urged the students to desist from any that could truncate their education.
Earlier, representative of the Benue state governor, the Secretary to the State Government, Targema Takema commended the effort of the federal government and the Nigerian Army for promoting academic activities in the environment.
