Army honours Daily Trust, other media organisations in Borno

Daily Trust, News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), The Punch and others from a variety of news outlets have received the 2022 award from the Joint Task Force (North East) under Operation Hadin Kai.

The award, received by the North East Bureau Chief, Hamisu Kabir Matazu, on behalf of the Media Trust Group, was in recognition of the company’s “selfless service, commitment and dedication”.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Farouk Yahaya, said the media outlets were recognised for the display of professionalism in counter-insurgency reporting.

Meanwhile, residents of Borno State capital, Maiduguri, have expressed joy over the peaceful celebration of Christmas across the state. This year’s celebration has been without any reported incident of attack anywhere as at the time of filing the report.

In an interview with Daily Trust, some of the residents described the season as one of the most peaceful events ever in the state.

Gbenga Master, a resident, said, “It’s a hitch free Christmas. For the first time, the event is celebrated without restriction of movement.”

Another resident, Esther Moses, said the celebration was without apprehension.
