Army constructs 3.2 km road, bridges in Bauchi village

Nigeria Army has constructed  3.2 kilometers access road and three bridges from Bichiki village to Victor Kure Armoured training range in Toro Local Government of Bauchi state

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, who commissioned the projects in Bichiki along Bauchi-Jos road, said the road was constructed to ease transportation of officers and students to the range during training and firepower demonstrations as well as alleviate the suffering of host  communities.

Represented by the Head of Policy and Planning of the Nigerian Army, Lieutenant General Lamidi Adeosun, Buratai explained that he was concerned about the poor condition of the road during his last visit to the state.

“The nature of the road was of concern as most of the armoured vehicles always broke down either moving to or  returning from the range. The bad condition of the road is also preventing neighboring communities from having ease of access to Bauchi town, especially, during the rainy season. I also gathered that farm produce was not easily transported to the market due to lack of access road and bridges,’’ he said.

He said the road would alleviate the suffering faced by the  people of the community.

The Commander, Nigerian Army Armoured Corps, Bauchi, Major General Mohammed Magaji, thanked the Chief of Army Staff for the prompt intervention adding that the project started and completed within 60 days.

Governor Bala Mohammed, represented by the Commissioner for Works, Abdulkadir Ibrahim, thanked the army for the project and appealed for the extension of the road to Geji village, which is the major community in the area.

“The newly constructed road would bring succour to the people of the host communities and extending it to Geji will consolidate the benefits of the projects to the entire people of the area.”
