Army chief to media: Don’t provide bandits, terrorists oxygen to thrive

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Maj.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has appealed to the media not to provide bandits and terrorists with the oxygen to thrive by propagating their nefarious activities. 

Lagbaja made the call at the 4th quarter Nigerian Army Civil-Military Cooperation media chat, held in Sokoto on Wednesday. 

He said the criminals thrive only on propaganda and reign of terror on well-meaning Nigerians.

“It is our collective efforts that would guarantee the effective decimation of insecurity and the restoration of peace in our society,” he said. 

He promised to create an avenue for effective engagement of the media to complement their efforts in the field.

Represented by the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Major General Godwin Mutkut, the army chief noted that the army authorities had taken delivery of some modern equipment and other combat enablers. 

“The new additions to our operational capacity have been deployed and their effects are being witnessed across various theatres of operation,” he said.
