The Chief of Army Staff, Major General TA Lagbaja, has called on the officers of the Nigerian Army to keep the flag of professionalism flying in the discharge of their constitutional mandates.
He gave the charge during the commissioning of brigadier generals and major generals’ quarters and presentation of awards to recipients of the 2023 Chief of Army Staff Merit Award at the headquarters of the Training and Doctrine Command, Nigeria Army in Minna, the Niger State capital.
Represented by the Chief of Training, Nigeria Army, Major General Sani Gambo Mohammed, the Chief of Army Staff said the 86 officers emerged best in the 2023 promotional courses and training examinations.
He said the awards were initiated to encourage officers to prepare and strive for efficiency and professionalism while serving as role models to their younger ones in the discharge of their constitutional mandate.

Earlier, the Commander, Training and Doctrine Command, Nigeria Army, Major General K.O. Aligbe, said the awardees had distinguished themselves during the training and promotion examinations and urged them to sustain the tempo in the service of the Nigerian Army.
He said as officers progress in their careers, they sit for various examinations that earn them qualification to higher ranks.
