Army celebrates fallen heroes with badminton tournament in Minna

The Nigerian Army has tasked its personnel to participate in sporting activities as part of efforts to foster unity and collaboration among officers, soldiers and their civilian staff.

Against this backdrop, the 31 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army,  Minna, Niger State has organised a mini badminton tournament for its Officers, Soldiers, National Youth Corps Members as well as  civilian staff in the cantonment as part of activities to celebrate the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day

At the end of the competition, Team ‘H’ emerged the overall winner, defeating Team ‘D’ and Team ‘E’ who came 2nd and 3rd respectively.

The Chief of Doctrine and Combat Development, Major General Jamiu Abdulmuminu Lawal Jimoh, said the mini badminton tournament was to celebrate and remember the fallen heroes for their sacrifice towards sustaining peaceful co-existence in the country.

He also said it was meant to celebrate those who have retired and those still in active service.

Maj Gen. Jimoh reminded officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army of the task to ensure peace in the country, calling on them to continue to put in all their best to protect lives and property of Nigerians.

Also speaking, the Commander, 31 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Hamidu Bobbo said apart from celebrating the Fallen Heroes, the competition was put together as a way of uniting people of different backgrounds as well as  celebrating the Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
