A team of band boys of the Nigerian Army, a while ago, breached an established protocol that requires all lawmakers and visitors to any of the chambers of National Assembly to stand up once the arrival of the presiding officers is announced until the prayers are said.
The band consisting of over 30 rank and file soldiers of the Nigerian Army obviously ignored the protocol as Speaker Yakubu Dogara and other presiding officers of the House of Representatives made their way today into the green chamber.
Daily Trust observed a Sergeant-At-Arm giving what appeared to be a solemn instruction on the etiquette guiding the chamber to the young soldiers aged between 18 and 20, but they seemed to be paying no heed to the “civilian.”
Although, Speaker Dogara must have noticed the obvious breach of protocol, he noticeably turned a blind eye to it, and instead wondered why the chamber was populated with strangers against the House Standing Orders.
He then ordered that House Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila (APC, Lagos) move a motion permitting the admittance of strangers into the lower chamber.
Thereafter, the House went into executive session ahead of Buhari’s arrival.
