Army arrests soldier for threatening to shoot woman

The 4 Brigade of the Nigerian Army (NA), Benin City, Edo State, has arrested one of its soldiers, Sergeant David, for assaulting a woman, Vivian Johnson in the Ikpoba Hill axis around the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) office close to the old army barracks in Benin City.

It was learnt that the victim was coming back home at about 7pm on Sunday after seeing off her friend when the sergeant assaulted and threatened to shoot her.

The victim who spoke to journalists said the officer who was in mufti called her for a chat which she declined as it was dark.

She said the development angered the officer who slapped her and threatened to shoot her, warning her that she was inside the barracks.

When contacted, the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 4 Brigade, Capt Yemi Sokoya, said, “The sergeant has been arrested. I can assure you that he has been arrested and whatever the outcome, I will let you know.”
