There was confusion in Chikun local government area of Kaduna state when suspected bandits abducted newly-wed couple and four others from their home at Tudun Kawo village in the area.
The couple names was given as Yasibu and his wife, Ubaida while the remaining four others include a local Imam, Yunusa, a farmer, Sarkin Noma Ya’u, Malam Khalidu and Malam Abdullahi.
A senior Commander of the local vigilante, Hussaini Uduwa, who confirmed the incident to Daily Trust said the village shared boundary with troubled Birnin-Gwari area of the state.
He said the incident happened around 11pm last Thursday when the bandits armed with guns stormed the village and went straight to the couple’s residence and abducted them.
“The couple just wedded three days before the incident. After then, the bandits also went and abducted the remaining four persons including a local Imam, Yunusa and a farmer, Sarkin Noma Ya’u.
“I just returned from the village now where I went to sympathised with their parents. I heard the family are in talk with the abductors,” he said.
He said the incidence had been reported to Buruku Division of the Nigeria Police Force.
Meanwhile, the former vice Chairman of Chikun Local Government, Nuhu Kuriga, was also abducted along Buruku – Udaw highway on Sunday.
When contacted, the state Police Command Public Relations Officer, Yakubu Sabo, said he will find out and get back to our reporter as at the time of filing this report.
