Olasupo Abideen, an airline passenger, is demanding for refund and compensation from Arik Air after his missing $625 (about N315,000).

He, however, found the bag containing the said amount 24 hours after his Ilorin-Abuja flight landed without the cash intact.

Abideen, a business consultant, had boarded Arik Air flight from Ilorin to Abuja on Wednesday with two pieces of luggage checked in.

On arriving in Abuja, one of his bags that contained vital items was missing.

He said, “I boarded Arik Flight 403, Class Y at 1:30 pm today with seat number 11 E.

“I checked in two bags from Ilorin to Abuja. But to my utmost dismay, I was only able to recover just one luggage at the arrival lounge, on getting to my destination.”

The passenger stated that the missing bag contained vital documents such as his international passport, dollar debit cards, internet banking tokens, $625, chargers (iPhone 12 Pro max, Redmi Xiaomi and Nokia), books and a few clothes.

But on Thursday, he was contacted by the airline’s customer representative that his bag has been found while he requested that the bag should be delivered at a Hotel in the FCT which the airline did.

However, on checking the bag, all the items contained were said to be intact except the sum of $625 cash in the bag.

Abideen, in a chat with Daily Trust, demanded an explanation from the airline over the missing luggage and the cash.

He said, “As communicated via email exchange, I took a stock of the items but my raw cash of $625 could not be found.

“All other items are intact. I’m demanding a thorough report communicated to me officially, refund of my money and compensation for inconveniences.”

He stated that as a result of the incident, he missed important business appointments in Abuja because he wasted six hours at the airport waiting for his bag.

Spokesman of Arik Air, Mr Ola Adebanji, told Daily Trust that the claim was being investigated.
