A front line labour leader, Issa Aremu has emerged as the candidate for governorship position of the labour party.
Aremu emerged through affirmation by delegates from all the sixteen local governments of the state.
Speaking during the exercise in Ilorin yesterday, the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Ayuba Wabara represented by Comrade John Adaji said the aspirant is a special product of the NLC who has served in various capacities and still serving internationally.
“Comrade Issa Aremu has the same history with the present National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomole whom he took over from as the secretary general of textile, garment and tailoring association of Nigeria.
” All NLC members will be present in Kwara to give him support during his campaign. NLC is fully in support of his ambition and NLC will deploy everything within our capacity to support his election to change Kwara state for better,” Wabara said.
The National Chairman of the party, Abdulkadir Abdulsalam who was also present at the primary said, the candidate has achieved a lot as a labour leader even more than himself adding that Kwara state would be better if elected as governor of the state.
In his acceptance speech, Aremu reeled out his agenda, starting from education, labour infrastructure, agriculture and good governance as a whole.
