Recently, women especially mothers, have been in the news for negative acts. It is either we hear of a woman killing, stabbing or inflicting a scar on the husband or someone close to her. In the news recently, we heard of how women have turned devils in the society and carrying out inhumane acts on children whom they are supposed to love and protect.

Yet, another who is supposed to be the caregiver ensuring that nothing hurts the kids around her, notwithstanding if the child is hers or not.  Instead, many have turned cold blooded as they carry out deadly acts forgetting that these kids are also human.

The question that immediately comes up is; are women becoming increasingly less humane or are they just simply taking issues to the extreme? Weekly Trust sought the opinion of people and what they feel is the cause of this ugly trend in the society.

“Women are becoming more aggressive and less humane because they are becoming increasingly intolerant of the foibles of men and are tired of keeping silent over their husband’s behaviour. We cannot say what the man has been doing to her and she just got pushed to the wall and retaliated, but then, I am not saying that killing her husband is the best thing to do as by doing this is just the beginning of her travails,” says Mrs Mara Okenwa, a relationship expert.

Mr Paul Mitchelle Obinna, a psychologist with a private hospital says, “women who are abusive towards their husbands or their children usually have unrealistic expectations and make unrealistic demands of men. With this type of character, they will experience repeated episodes of depression, frustration and anxiety which at the end , makes them to do things that are not normal”

“These women blame men rather than accept and admit their problems and take responsibility for how they live their lives.  When these cannot make them feel any better, they become frustrated and assume that their husband is doing what he is doing purposefully. Take for example the case of the woman who killed her husband by pulling his genitals.  She was just jealous and stupidly wicked. If am to ask, was that the appropriate way to teach the man a lesson?

Moreover, what wrong did he commit?  Many argue that frustration drives a woman to the edge to do inhuman things but that is not a good enough reason for you to bash or even kill your husband”.

Mrs Labaran M. Lami, a mother and wife says, “I will not condone a man or a woman being abusive, regardless of whatever circumstances. It is a regrettable incident that should be avoided at all cost. It is not justifiable or enough defence to kill someone, just because you have a power over them”. Mrs Zainab Musa says, “women are supposed to be care givers no matter the circumstances.

How on earth do you punish a kid for stealing or committing any other offence by burning her hands. This is inhuman and unbelievable especially coming from a woman.

If the child is hers, she would not have gone to that extent. This still boils down to curbing our selfish, greedy and wicked traits.

Do unto others what you want done to you or your child”.

“We often forget that what goes around comes around no matter how long it takes”

According to Psychologist, Spiff Valey, “a marriage can only survive only when a wife defers to her husband,

A selfish, self centred and demanding wife will only destroy her marriage and she should remember that according to the Holy Scripture, “every wise woman builds her home, but only the foolish one pulls it down with her own hands”.

We need to caution ourselves and take control of our anger because in the heat of our anger, we do things that we later come to regret. Not to talk of the stigma that you will be placing on your kids, let’s be realistic for sure word will go round that you killed your husband or even a child under your care. What impression do you want to leave behind for your kids? That it is okay to kill your husband or a child under your care? Lets refocus and reorganise our lives.

At least, if you do not need the man in your live anymore, your kids need their father by their side. Likewise the parents and siblings of the child under your care who need her to be alive to live life to the fullest.
